Asthma

Asthma is a medical condition in which a person’s airways narrow, swell, and produce extra mucus. This can cause difficulty breathing, coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. Did you know that 15% of children miss school due to asthma symptoms?

What can I do to help me or my child with asthma?

Medication Administration Form (MAF)

If your child uses an inhaler, make sure you fill out their Medication Administration Form. Using this forms helps assure that your children get the medicine they need during the school day.

Asthma Home Visit Program

Your primary care provider or school can sign you up for the Asthma Home Visit Program. This program is a FREE service for people under 21 years old, people with Medicaid, and people who have no health insurance. A trained community health worker will visit your home and help you gain control of asthma.

Asthma Action Plan

Ask your primary care provider for an Asthma Action Plan. It can help you understand and control your asthma.
