2018 Population Health Symposium, October 2nd, 2018

On Tuesday, October 2nd, over 130 healthcare professionals came out to the Regina McGinn, MD Medical Education Center to partake in the 2018 Population Health Symposium. We started off the evening with a poster and networking session featuring poster topics across the population health spectrum. Then guests convened in the auditorium to hear opening remarks from Joseph Conte, PhD, CPHQ, Executive Director of Staten Island PPS. Then we got to hear from Richard J. Salhany, MBA, FACHE, Senior Vice President Strategic Planning & Medical Operations/Executive Director Richmond Quality, ACO, Richmond University Medical Center who spoke about his value-based payment success story with the Richmond Quality, LLC ACO. Joe Kuehn, Partner-Healthcare Solutions, KPMG LLP, followed with his keynote address about the Move to Value-based Payment, Leveraging DSRIP to Achieve Strategic Objectives. After a brief intermission, guests were able to choose a breakout session:
  • Care Management: Community Care Coordination Strategies led by Amy Boutwell, MD, MPP, President, Collaborative Healthcare Solutions
  • Primary Care: Technical Assistance led by Matt Gannon, Senior Strategy Manager, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Primary Care Information Project
  • Strategies to Improve Patient-centered Communication led by Celina Ramsey, MShc, Director, Health Literacy, Diversity & Outreach, Staten Island Performing Provider System
It was a great day of learning, professional development, and networking. Attendees got to hear from leaders who are transforming healthcare across the region and from local professionals who are driving change in our community.
